Located at the northernmost point of San Diego
County, agricultural Fallbrook
(population 43,000) is the Avocado Capital of the World. At
one time there were 50 nurseries in Fallbrook growing
fruits, olives and flowers. Each year, residents celebrate their
Avocado Festival. Events include a pit-spitting contest and
the Avocado 500 in which model cars made out of avocados race
for the gold.
Single family detached
Fallbrook homes
range in price from $349,000 for a two bedroom, one bathroom
700 square foot home built in 1924 to $4,000,000 for a two bedroom,
one bathroom home built in 1918 on a 20 acre lot.
Fallbrook condos
range from $240,000 for a two bedroom, two bathroom, 950 square
foot home built in 1980 to $490,000 for a three bedroom, three

Fallbrook’s Main Street is much as it was earlier in
the century. Historic buildings dating back to the late 1800s
are home to antique shops and galleries. Area residents commute
easily to Orange and Riverside Counties, as well as to the Marine
Corps base at Camp Pendleton. Parks and preserves with trails
and benches are open for public use.
Committed to preserving their rural heritage, Fallbrook participated
in the county’s Rural Future Task Force. A Land Conservancy
manages over 200 acres of open land, principally preserving
its habitat.
Fallbrook’s Art & Cultural Center opened in 1996 for
art exhibits, concerts, etc. The Bob Burton Center for the Performing
Arts is a $5.5 million facility for the performing arts.
In addition to its many farmhouses,
Fallbrook homes
are often on several acre lots with spectacular views. New construction
includes single family homes and county club golf course estates.
