With three and half miles of coastline, five golf
courses and 1,000 boat slips, Oceanside is an energetic
beach community. Home to the International Gymnastics Hall of
Fame, the US Marine Corps Base at Camp Pendleton and the California
Surf Museum, Oceanside is
growing at a rate of roughly 2,000 new jobs per year.
Oceanside homes
are more economical than they are in neighboring beach communities.
Oceanside homes
with a view of the ocean range from $375,000 – $4,500,000 in
price.
Oceanside condominiums
with an ocean view range from $269,000 - $2,900,000.
The harbor is surrounded by shops, restaurants and a lighthouse.
Residents enjoy whale watching, sport fishing and boating. The
1,900 foot wooden pier was built in 1888 and is one of the longest
in California.
Oceanside's first inhabitants were the Luiseno Indians,
part of the large Shoshoni tribe. Anthropologist Drusilla Gould
recently published a Shoshoni dictionary, no small feat as Shoshoni
was never a written language.
Today, Oceanside is a thriving
community attracting both military and civilian populations.
Oceanside homes
are lower than they are in Del
Mar and Carlsbad. Near
the ocean, there’s a delightful older community. Inland, is
more suburban with new condominiums and small single-family
homes.
